What a great suggestion! I loved the hands-on activities and the biplane that the kids can climb in and out of. The experiments with air currents and beach balls was really cool. Pip and her friend Mac spent a long time standing over the air tubes redirecting airflow and watching how that affected the flight of each beach ball. I agree; it was worth the trip! This is extremely comprehensive. A really great place we discovered that is EXTREMELY child friend, and cheap ($4 for adults, $2 for children) is the College Park Aviation Museum. It's got all sorts of hands on displays, and a real plane to play in! Well worth the time and money. Downtown Silver Spring is also working to be more child friendly, including free movie showings on Tuesday mornings. They have a play-in fountain as well. Wow – thanks so much! I think part of me wants to be the uber-mom and do crafts with them and enrich their learning all summer. Another part of me thinks that will not end well LOL When you do take the kids out, if you need to keep track of them you might consider a Cricket Wireless pay-as-you-go plan ... so you only give the kids a phone when they're wandering off and you might not be able to see them for a couple of minutes.
